Ways to Give

Gifts to the Community Foundation of Greater Peterborough (CFGP) come in many sizes, shapes and forms. Each gift, no matter how big or small, helps make an impact on our community. We accept the following gifts:

Cash and credit card

A very straightforward way of making a gift to CFGP is by way of cash, cheque, money order, bank draft or credit card. This is an attractive form of gift for those who want to make an immediate donation. CFGP is able to invest the donation to generate funds to support charitable organizations and projects. You enjoy immediate tax savings.

A gift in your will

A gift in a will (often called a charitable bequest) may specify a certain sum of money, a particular asset, or a portion of an estate, to be donated to CFGP. You may specify that a gift in your will be used to establish a new fund in your name or be added to any existing fund.

Gifts of publicly traded securities

If you have marketable securities that have appreciated in value, you can donate them to CFGP and your capital gains are tax-exempt. Marketable securities include stocks, bonds, bills, warrants, futures traded on approved stock exchanges and mutual funds.

Gifts of life insurance

A gift of life insurance, by either making CFGP the owner and beneficiary of an existing policy or purchasing a new policy and making annual premium payments, has many benefits. It allows donors to make a significant gift at a fraction of the value from their disposable income. The annual payments are generally modest and eligible for tax credit, giving annual income tax relief.

Third-party fundraising events

You can help contribute to positive lasting change in our community by organizing a fundraising event in support of CFGP or one of our funds. Some fundraising ideas include: workplace events, golf tournaments, casual days, community barbeques, etc...
